A Coastal New England Wedding
How They Met
"Charlie and I met at the Cedar Room in Charleston, South Carolina on June 10, 2017. I was the Catering Sales Manager at the venue and he was putting up a tent for the wedding that day. We both worked in the industry so our path crossed occasionally, but we had never been formally introduced. Our mutual friend passed along my number to Charlie and he called me and asked me out, quite the gentleman. A few days later, Charlie called to cancel due to a tent strike, which made sense since the busy season was coming to a close. We rescheduled for a few days later. Like any woman would pre-second, first date, I got my nails done…only to walk out to a voicemail from Charlie saying that he had to cancel… again. This time, he was flying up to New York to drive cross country to work a luxury wedding for two weeks. While I was disappointed, how could I not understand the predicament he was in. First date with the potential love of his life or work, fly fish and drink for two weeks with your best friend, in no particular order. Come to find out, Charlie told his buddy he did not want to go out because he had a first date he wanted to go on. Charlie and I reconnected on the back end, as he said and our first date was July 11th and our second one was on July 12th. The rest is history."
The Color Scheme
"I had a patterned floral Club Monaco dress I loved. So I had my grandma sketch two flowers from the dress and we used them in the Save the Date. The design continued through the invitation suite, escort display and table numbers and overall aesthetic of a the day. My initial vision leaned into a coastal chic, romantic vibe with lots of blues (no navy), neutrals and ivory. Fast forward to the final look which was softened by using taupes, whites and slate blue. The main focal point for the tabletop was a patterned white and blue floral plate my planner drove up from Curated Events in Charleston. The pattern on the plate and my floral sketches from my grandma were everything. The blue accents from the plates and invitations helped tie in the color of my bridesmaids chambray silk dresses. It was all perfect."
Finding THE dress
"For me, finding the perfect dress was the easiest part of the whole wedding process! Don’t get me started on bridesmaids pajamas and earrings though. Working in the event industry, I found myself overthinking and redesigning every other aspect of our wedding. The ‘MP’ was the second dress I tried on and I knew it was the one. My dresser, Olivia, recommended I try on a different style first to give me something to compare it to since most of the dresses I chose had a similar waistline. I wanted my dress to have three things: be strapless, have pockets and buttons all the way down the train. The slit was a bonus. After trying it on a second time with my veil, it became so real. My experience at the White Dress was nothing short of extraordinary and the owner Beth Chapman and Olivia, made it that much more memorable. The dress was also named after Beth’s beloved family pup, who passed away a couple of years ago. All I kept thinking was the next time I put this dress on, she will be mine forever. "
The Venue
"Charlie and I got married at the Madison Beach Club in Madison, CT. I was fortunate enough to grow up going there as a child. Charlie visited our second year into dating and he was sold. I knew I always wanted to be married there and having a partner who was just as eager to welcome all of our family and friends to such a special place, was the icing on the cake. New England in September on the water, you can’t beat it! Our guests agreed."
One Moment to Relive
"Our first dance. It was the one moment in time where all eyes were on just the two of us and it felt like we were completely alone, in love and could have stood in that moment forever. If I could pick a second moment to relive, it would be walking down the aisle with my dad, looking at him and taking a deep breath before walking down the aisle, taking it all in and looking around to see everyone there to watch me marry my best friend.
