A Lovely Day in LP

How they met

Devon and Ian met through the dating app Bumble. She saw the first pic of Ian on his profile, one of him and his mom at a Boston Red Sox Game, as well as his career (Science Teacher) and thought … There is no way this guy isn’t a nice guy. Within moments of messaging Ian, he responded. And within hours of back and forth texting, Ian asked to meet her. The two went out for dinner and over a couple of glasses of red wine and a few beers, they quickly realized that this was it …. the rest was history.

The color scheme

The couple’s color scheme included ivory, midnight blue, black, and a grayish-purple. The groom and his groomsmen wore a midnight blue version of the ‘BLACK’ Tux, by Vera Wang which they rented from Jos. A. Bank. The dads matched the groom in the black version of the same tux and the moms wore black and navy. The bridesmaids/maid of honor wore floor-length, chiffon gowns in various styles in the color ‘Dusk’ by Azazie. Each reception table was adorned with black standing frames featuring pictures of the couple as kids which were surrounded by eucalyptus and ivory spray roses as well as similar mauve-colored floating candles. The couple’s sweetheart table was also decorated with mauve candles as well as florals from House of Flora, a local shop and friend of the family, which included ivory and special-ordered ‘Menta’ roses.

Finding THE Dress

After trying on what felt like hundreds of gowns, mostly all adorned with lace, the bride decided to go to The White Dress by the Shore to try on a sample sale dress that caught her eye on their website. Little did she know, she would fall in love with THE dress that day (a dress nowhere near similar to the others she had spent the last few months trying on). Something told her to ditch the all lace and try on something more timeless, and with the suggestion of her stylist, Erin, she was able to find HER dress …. The ‘LP’ by Antonio Gual. The beautiful LP was designed as a more fitted version of a dress (‘MP’) created in collaboration with the owner of The White Dress in honor of her late dog Mr. Pickles. What was crazy was that just the night before, the bride and groom were talking about future dog names and she had suggested the name … PICKLES. She knew instantly that it was a sign. She had to have the dog-lover created dress.

The venue

The wedding reception was held at The Riverview, also located in Simsbury, and was the first wedding venue the couple had toured. They were immediately wow’d by the elegant chandeliers, top tier customer service, delicious desserts and huge dance floors and had no doubts when it came down to selecting it for their special day. Devon and Ian entered the dance floor to Luke Combs’ ‘Still’ and shared in their first dance to "Forever After All," also by the popular country artist. At the end of the dance, the bride surprised the groom with floor seats to see their favorite artist, Luke, for both shows this upcoming summer at MetLife Stadium (their first time on the floor, and their third time seeing him live in concert). Loved ones danced the night away to all of the couple’s favorite hits played by well-renowned DJ and radio host, John Cadillac Saville (John Saville Entertainment), while sipping down signature drinks named after their furry family members. The night was so good, guests needed to be asked to leave the dance floor … but not before wrapping up the evening with Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ (a fan favorite and the groom’s personal request).

One moment to relive...

If there was one moment from the wedding that the bride and groom could relive, it would be the bus ride over to the reception from the cemetery … even though it was a less than five minute ride, both agreed it was the best, most memorable moment getting to share in their new marriage with their bridal party. The bus arrived at the Riverview and was parked for minutes before anyone thought to open the door to get off because they all had to finish jamming out to Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin on a Prayer.’
