A Love Story Written in The Stars

How they met

"Over the past 10+ years I’ve done various acting work in indie films and commercials, as part of what I call my “portfolio career."

In the spring of 2019 I auditioned for an independent sci-fi film, and that is when I met James. He and his writing partner were directing a heartfelt story of a mother and son, and in the audition room we bonded over a love of the show Battlestar Galactica.

Fast forward and I was cast as the female lead, and over the course of the pre-production process and during filming, we developed a friendship. On the last night filming, as I left the cast and crew party I had a moment where I realized I really liked this man. A lot. I wasn’t sure if he liked me back, in that way, though after filming we continued texting daily.

About a month later we made plants to go on a tour of museums and theater and restaurants in NYC, but going into it I still wasn’t sure if it was a friend-hang, or something more. By the first meal (at the Met Bruer) I knew it was a date. 12 hours into our first date as the day finally came to a close, we had our first kiss.

Fast forward and now we live in a beautiful home with a cadre of rescue dogs and cats, and an impressive array of film, theater, and generally nerdy decor!"

Their venue and colors

"At Winvian Farm in Morris, CT, near Litchfield. A beautiful, woman/family owned resort with seed-to-table dining, 113 acres, and 18 distinctive cottages designed by 15 architects.

Blue, Green, Gold, and White (with some silver sprinkled in).

The idea was Midsummer Night’s Dream ambience

 with film themed accents.

Our table cards were all named after some

of our favorite movies, and the escort cards looked like

movie tickets, and the welcome sign and menus

looked like old school movie marquees."

One moment to relive

"This was a surprisingly hard question, as there were such great moments to choose from! I think I’d choose the moment we walked back up the aisle after the ceremony, to a piano rendition of the “Raiders of the Lost Ark” theme,

and seeing all the smiling faces of our loved ones, holding my new husband's hand and feeling such joy and a resonating love."

Finding her dream gown...

"Having worked as a fitting model for going on 9 years, I am fairly particular about what I like and what looks good on me.

I knew I wanted simple (no sequins or beading or excess decoration), and some balance of elegant and sexy.

As I collected pictures on Pinterest and looked up different designers, I realized that most of the dresses I selected had a similar style, but I knew I wanted something to make the dress distinct and not just “another white ballgown."

I also wanted comfort - if I’m spending 8+ hours in a dress, I want to feel good!"

The Dress.

"I had looked at a few of Antonio’s designs online, and as I went to various stores and ateliers to try on different dresses, I found that the Eunie dress kept popping up at the back of my mind.

When I finally tried it on, I knew I’d found the one.

Every dress I’d tried up to that point on had at least one issue (too itchy, uncomfortable seaming design, not my style, design elements I didn’t want), and this was the only dress I had no complaints about!

Even better, it had everything I wanted - a sleek hand feel, elegant with a beautiful drape, but with a subtle sexiness, a classic silhouette but unique design details. And the final element that sealed the deal - it had pockets!!

(During the ceremony when I pulled my vows out of my pocket I heard a couple hushed, awed and joyful tones whisper, “it has pockets!” I felt the same way)."

A special quote

"At the end of the ceremony, after we said our “I do’s” our officiant said “So say we all” and the assembled guests (as instructed by our officiant) all chorused in return with, “So say we all.”

This is a reference to the show Battlestar Galactica, where this phrase is echoed by the community

to signify unity, approval, and agreement, and at times, as an ‘amen’ of sorts.

This was our way of including our guests in the ceremony, and we felt our community

truly coming together in not just witnessing, but participating in our celebration.

It was a powerful and wonderful way to welcome in the first moments as husband and wife."
